All the time we spend looking at watches online will never give us a clear indication of how a watch is going to look on our wrist, which is one of the most important factors in buying a watch. Several times I have nervously opened up a watch box to see the new watch I've never seen before, but just purchased. My hope is that the watch looks good on me, and is what I expected. Thankfully enough, I've never been disappointed. In fact, I am usually pleasantly surprised. Regardless, for many weary watch buyers, the personal look of a watch is of the utmost importance.
If you are into watches, then you spend a good deal of time online reading about, looking at, or shopping for watches. But you can supplement this time by looking at watch magazines. Yes, there are actually a good number of them. In fact, as watch enthusiasm draws some of the most artistic, mechanical, and style conscious fans, there is bound to be a good deal of well written print content on watches.

Thus, the quality of metal used in a watch means a lot in terms of the quality of the watch itself, how nice it will look, and of course, how long it will last. If you are used to cheaper feeling watches, prepare to be impressed with what a well crafted watch will look and feel like.

There seems to be a constant feature ballet involving Citizen, Seiko, and Casio. The dance involves elegantly weaving in an increasing amount of technology into watches while making them look appealing at the same time. For a while Casio was prevailing in the feature category, but most of the watches succeed in looking "cool and techy" at best. No self-respecting watch lover would display their plastic endowed Casio G-Shock or Pathfinder in a meeting, or on a date. Over time Citizen and Seiko began to incorporate some technologies that made Casio watches so desirable, and likewise, Casio began to take styling cues advice from their Japanese brethren.

Formex does a good job with releasing new watches and keeping the line fresh. They have a very unique look that appeals to many watch lovers, among those not typically interest in adorning a high-class timepiece. Right now a limited edition Formex DS 2000 is being offered on eBay for a very low price. Check it out.
Removing the "X-Treme" moniker, and you have a beautiful watch. Attractive symmetry with classic elements, and orbiting numbers, you have a great looking watch. Modernly useful, with contrasting colors that really bring the colors out. Four screws on the dial add to a more mechanical feel, and the quasi-tire tread rubber strap is a nice touch. The watch also features a inner rotating bezel with a crown lock to protect against inadvertent adjustment. However even with all that, this Vulcain is just a fancy dive watch, not an extreme performance tool.
Few watch brands specialize in sport watches exclusively, but some do. Tag Heuer and Omega for example sell mostly sport watches, but offer dress watches as well. These are obviously very mainstream brands, but by no means the only brands one should consider. It is not possible to make an exhaustive list. The best idea is to search on eBay, or online for "diving watches, racing watches, pilot watches." As you explore, it will become obvious which ones you like or are not so fond of. One you find models you like, you can explore similar types or brands until you find the watch that has the perfect set of features you are looking for.

IWW has a few different types of case modification. The most popular are likely to be PVD processing (black finish), and bead blasting (matte finish). The PVD coating process typically gives the case a matte look as well. Each give watches a more masculine look, and can interesting ways to reinvigorate a boring or stale looking watch. In addition, IWW will likely alter to look of bezels, and add new crystals when necessary.

Marcello C Rising: Watching The Growth Of This Impressive German Watch Maker
Analysis: Both watches are automatic mechanical movements, but since the Clinton watch has a see-through exhibition back, you can see its lovely decorated movement and winding rotor moving about, it is more desirable to the discerning watch lover. The Schwarzenegger watch is a sturdy and solid traditional chronograph, but offers a limited amount of "show me factor." Alternatively, the Clinton watch offers lots of useful (and useless) information, but might have you struggling to figure out what time it is.
eBay helped to reinvent the shipping industry. Yes, in the late 1990's online shopping was growing larger, but it was the immense "peer to peer" buying and selling network of eBay probably took the US Post Office out of the dark ages, and into the modern era. The shipping industry still has yet to catch up with eBay's seamless and past paced process, but it has come a long way. The next real innovation will involve being able to pick up shipments from your home or office, and then for us to be able and schedule specific delivery times. When those two issues are resolved, I fear for the lives of most retail locations.

The two Citizen Campanola watches offered here differ from the main Campanola line in several key ways. First, these watches contain Citizen's famous Eco-Drive battery charging system with a charge indicator. This relieves the watch owner of ever replacing the battery as it is charged via light coming in through the watch face. Any light from either the sun or a desk lamp will do. The photo-receptive cells are located beneath the face of the watch that is permeable by light, even though it is not translucent at all. To the naked eye, the face appears lavishly decorated, but is still able to be penetrated by light to charge the battery. Akin to the power reserve on a mechanical watch, the Citizen Campanola Eco-Drive features a "charge indicator" gauge which tells you how much energy is left in the battery. This is a useful feature for knowing when to wear the watch outside or take it out of its case.

Next, you want to measure the width of your watch strap so that you know what size of watch bracelet or strap to replace it with. Measure the width in terms of millimeters. Most are between 18mm and 24mm. Straps on women's watches can be smaller though. Knowing the size you need, you can then go online and search eBay or the many sites that have straps available. There are literally hundreds of straps and bracelets available, in many styles and levels of quality. You really get what you pay for. Don't spend more on the watch strap than you watch itself, but you don't always want to go with the straps that will not last you very long.
Women's watches usually aren't given that much attention by watch enthusiasts. They come in two basic varieties, miniature dolled up versions of men's watches, or some watch richly gilded with jewels. While these watches can be appreciated, they are hardly things rich in innovation or novel interest. Typically, much more time is spent on men's watches when it comes to new technology, avant-garde styling or new complications.
Some notable watches available for low prices are the Jaques Lemans F1 watch in Black and Red as pictures above. They have it on sale for 9.99. I like the sporty red and black tones on this chronograph reminiscent of the very popular Tag Heuer F1 series of watches. Red watches always stand out nicely. Far better than yellow or orange in my opinion.
One of the best parts of the article are the drawings by illustration artist Alan Witschonke. He is a masterful artist and does justice to the watch in illustration form. I would love to see more watch drawings by him.
Then again, one really needs to observe what the blog is supposed to do? Spread ideas, sell a product, promote one's self? They say that employers now are looking at people's Myspace pages and alike. First as a check on one's character, next as a place to find new employees. Will one's blog be the next step? If you think about it, a blog is one's ultimate resume.
This is not to say that the established watch media never talks about anything save for the ultra expensive. There are common mentions, and occasional reviews of lower priced watches. No review has been of a quartz watch though (unless a very high-end quartz), and less expensive mentions are infrequent. Yes, a good purpose of watch magazines is to beef up, and promote the high-end watch market, but at the same time, there is a dedicated group of watch lovers who cannot afford watches in the many thousands of dollars, but are still worthy consumers.
You don't often see watches like this in pairs, but up on eBay for sale are a couple of 18k gold Kobold Polar Surveyor watches. One is all gold with the lovely metallic blue Kobold face, and other other is gold with a alligator strap and a black face. The bands are obviously interchangeable. Kobold watches are rare in the watch world for being an American company. Based out of Philadelphia, they use mostly swiss components are designed to be very rugged and functional. Knowing their upmarket appeal, Kobold does offer some of its pieces in gold as these two are.
The story behind the Privee RX watch winder is perhaps the most interesting part of this product. Originally designed under orders from Breguet, Orbita set out to make a luxury watch winder for the exclusive Breguet watch brand. Nearing the end of the project Breguet pulled out of the deal because the Privee RX watch winder did not have enough Swiss parts. In fact, 50% of the Privee RX is made in the USA. Now Breguet's loss, the Privee RX is to be beta tested among watch enthusiasts for eventual sale at high end watch stores. The full story of the Privee RX watch winder with Breguet can be found here.
